About Dr. Ray
Dr. Ray is a board-certified Plastic
and
Reconstructive Surgeon, (dual
certified by the American Board
of
Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery), a member of both the
American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the North Carolina Society of
Plastic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. During his fellowship
at
the
University of Southern California, he trained among many of the
world's leading plastic and reconstructive surgeons. As an undergraduate,
Dr. Ray attended Cornell University where he graduated cum laude
with distinction and was elected to join the prestigious Phi Beta
Kappa honor society. He received his medical degree from the world
famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Prior to his Plastic
Surgery training, Dr. Ray completed a five year General Surgery
residency as well as a two year
post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Rochester in New York.
During his time at USC, he became a Regan Fellow with Operation
Smile, traveling to the Philippines to perform
cleft lip and palate repairs. He also served on the Board of Governors
for the Carolinas Chapter of Operation Smile. Dr. Ray has presented
his clinical and scientific research at several national meetings,
including the American College of Surgeons and the American Society
of Plastic Surgeons. During his training, he was awarded best
research paper at the ASPS Senior Resident Meeting in Washington,
D.C. for his work on thumb reconstruction. To date, Dr. Ray has
published 18 articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters,
including recent publications in the Plastic and Reconstructive
