Autologous Fat Grafting

In many circumstances, one's own fat can be removed from one area (such as the abdomen or thighs) and then injected into the subcutaneous tissues elsewhere to achieve a similar effect as synthetic fillers (like Restylane, Juvéderm or Radiesse).  The effects may be much longer lasting, or even permanent, depending on the quality of the fat and how it is handled.  In the face, this can provide significant rejuvenation of the cheeks, around the eyes and lips (see lip augmentation).  In other areas of the body, "autologous" (meaning 'from your own body') fat grafting can be performed to provide extra soft tissue.
